The Featured Native Plant Series

Celebrating Native Plants of the Pacific Northwest

Black Lily or Northern Riceroot | Fritillaria camschatcensis

Explore the beauty and diversity of the Pacific Northwest and wildflowers of North America with my 2025 featured native plant series, showcasing a variety of wildflowers and native plants. This series will focus on at-risk ecosystems, red-listed species, as well as some common favourites. Each month in 2025, I’ll introduce a new plant through engaging lessons that teach you how to about and how to paint wildflowers and native plants with clear, actionable steps in each lesson.

Calypso Orchid | Calypso bulbosa

Join me as I share personal stories about these plants—where I discovered them, how I learned about their unique traits, and fascinating facts about each plant, as well as their common and Latin names. Alongside each lesson, you’ll receive PDF and text-based resources featuring reference photos, finished illustrations, plant information, and creative project ideas for all skill levels.

Tiger Lily | Lillium columbianum

At the end of each month, I’ll share a final wrap-up video that brings together all the research and steps I took to create that month’s featured plant. Join me in the Watercolour Garden to enjoy this inspiring monthly content and celebrate the incredible plants of the Pacific Northwest!

Coastal Pink Fawn Lily | Erythronium revolutum
